The most accurate way to get an offer on trade ins is to bring what you have to the store. We can give you an estimate in person and you can walk out with some cash in your pocket or use it towards anything in the store. Without seeing a game we are really throwing darts in the dark, we are happy to help get a ballpark to you but it generally depends on all items showing up in reasonably good condition. If items show up scratched, dirty, broken, not powering on or display any issues we were not informed about over the phone, this will affect the estimate we give to you on the phone.
Absolutely you can! And who would we be if we discouraged the entrepreneurial spirit! The best way to answer why we are so fair is to just give you some rough numbers and an example of how much the hard work will pay off if you try to sell this yourself vs just brining it in and walking out with cash (Or a business check for larger amounts) at our store.
Here is an example of what we pay for a game and what YOU get out of it (Short version is you get about 20-30% less instantly by trading a game in with us and you don't need to waste your time with all the steps below). Lets use a simple example of a game that is worth $100. Here is roughly what you will need to do in order to sell that game and what you would get after selling it on eBay vs coming here and trading it in.... Look further down to see the difference between trading in and selling on eBay (It is probably a lot smaller than you think).
Note: This is a FAQ at a local game shop, the numbers below if changed on eBay may be slightly different, but we promise this is a roughly accurate depiction of how quickly we can get money in your hands today instead of starting a business to sell games.
Selling on eBay Cost and Time
Step 1 - List on eBay
Step 2 - Wait 1 week for auction to end OR put up for sale and wait for someone to pay market value for the game.
Step 3 - Wait for payment from buyer OR receive payment immediately depending on how it was purchased.
Step 4 - Package item and prepare you item to be shipped.
Step 5 - Print shipping label.
Step 6 - Wait for item to arrive to your customer without being lost or damaged
Step 7 - Take a deep breath you have finished selling your game.
Total Money For Sale = $100 - ((15% eBay Fee's) $.40 transaction fee) = $84.60
Total money After Shipping = $84.60 - $6.50 (We will assume USPS flat rate as it is inexpensive) = $78.10
Total = $78.10
Trade in at the Store
Step 1 - Come in to the store
Step 2 - Game is in great condition and we offer 60% vs standard 50% as the game is collectible and we don't see it often.
Step 3 - Receive $60
Total = $60
We try to make this as easy as possible and give everyone a fair deal. When you bring games into the store we take a look at the current market pricing for the games you have and offer 50% of that value. This often times is quite a bit more than anywhere else and this offer can change based on a multitude of factors. We use THIS WEBSITE for market values then offer more or less than that amount based off of the rarity and the condition of the game.
Note: Sports games are often refused unless they are collectible. We will take them along with a lot of games but they simply do not sell so we generally reserve the right to refuse certain titles for trade in. Fear not, toss a bundle of these online and ofter someone will scoop them up (Though often times sports titles sell quite a bit below market value)
Monday and Tuesday we are closed. Every other day of the week we are open from noon to 7 PM EST. If you are already in the area and give us a ring we are often in the shop outside of those hours and if we are, we are more than happy to let you in and geek out over all the awesome stuff we have in the store.
Lets start with the ugly way of saying this then we can tell you how awesome we actually are. All sales are final. No returns, no refunds, no exchanges is what our policy is. Now... that really stinks. Well we wouldn't be in business if we stuck to this in all situations, let me explain.
If you buy anything from us and you get home and have an issue with it, give us a ring and let us know what is going on. We are human beings and we love helping out the gaming community. While we can't guarantee every item will last forever we really do want to make sure if we sold you something that does not function that we make sure it is made right on a case by case basis.
The other side to this is pretty simple and why we have a case by case mentality here. We are selling REALLLLLLLLY old things. We check every unit, we clean them and we test them.... so, we are not providing a warranty of any type as it is all old collectible technology and things do go wrong. But, we are always reasonable and haven't met any situations that we couldn't help out with no matter the circumstance. So our policy is just to let us know what happened and understand we will always try to do what is right given the circumstances.
Well, that is always a good question and there are only a couple ways to get you an answer. The fastest way is always coming into the store to take a look at what we have on that day. We are a small shop so online messages are always second to us on level of importance to helping people out who walk in, that being said you are more then welcome to message us on Facebook or give us a call and we are happy to answer your stock questions that way as well!
